A biotextronic system for prophylactics and treatment support in cases of lower urinary tract inflammation

Women suffer from lower urinary tract inflammation 50 times more frequently than men. This problem affects 20% of he female population, regardless of age – and the infections are highly recurrent. A default treatment method is pharmacological medication.

The system consists of underwear, a textronic insert permanently attached to the underwear, and a replaceable insert with applied essential oils with antiinflammatory and antibacterial effects. The textronic insert has two insulation layers with a textile heating element in between. The heating element is connected via a textile signal line with a temperature controller, also integrated with the underwear.

This technology may find applications in production of therapeutic underwear.
