Irradiation by gamma rays is a sterilisation or hygienisation method applied to materials, finished products and semi-finished products, used in technological processes.

Irradiation of materials The Institute possesses a radiation chamber (the only one with such parameters in the country) with an initial activity of radiation sources at Co-60 2200 TBq (60 kCi). The system is based on a panoramic gamma
irradiator of the Ob-Servo-D type. The offer of a broad analytic scope, performed at the highest level and in compliance with the current legal regulations and the ICUMSA method, is the pillar of the SLAC activity.

This service may be targetted at entities in the medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and veterinary branch, as well as by R&D units and those involved in preservation of historical buildings.
