Professor Kolesińska was recognized for her contribution to the development of innovation in Poland and novel solutions, and in particular for the project: Innovative hybrid materials for wound dressings in the treatment of diabetic foot (Innowacyjne materiały hybrydowe użyteczne w wytwarzaniu opatrunków do leczenia stopy cukrzycowej).
- The aim of the project is to develop multicomponent dressing materials which allow for holistic dressing of difficult wounds, in particular in diabetic foot syndrome. Owing to the sustained action throughout all stages of the wound healing process, i.e. haemostasis, proliferation, regeneration, and vascularization, i.e. emergence of vessels, complete regeneration of tissue loss will be possible. The project is carried out in collaboration with the Medical University of Łódź and the Łukasiewicz Research Network - Textile Research Institute – the nominated researcher from TUL explained.
Professor Beata Kolesińska works at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, TUL. In April last year, she was awarded the Polish Intelligent Development Award 2019 in the category: Researcher of the Future. The award was given for two projects: Innovative hybrid materials from natural compounds for tissue regeneration (Innowacyjne materiały hybrydowe do regeneracji tkanek wywodzące się wyłącznie ze związków naturalnych) funded with a grant from the National Science Center and Hemostatic, resorbable double-purpose dressings (Hemostatyczne, resorbowalne opatrunki podwójnego zastosowania) financed with European funds under the Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014-2020.
Winners of the Ambassador of Innovation award will be selected by the panel of the award jury in January 2021. Presentation of the awards will take place during the International Economic Forum organized by the European Centre for Economic Development in cooperation with the Polish Agency for Business Development, which on March 5th, 2021.
