TUL scientists will modernize Balkan Universities

For the first time the concept of virtual technology will be implemented at the Balkan universities, thanks to the cooperation of 11 universities, including Lodz University of Technology, as a tool to accelerate the modernization of these universities. The project is to contribute to the development of knowledge-based society.

This modern concept of education will be implemented within the framework of the project VTECH - Accelerating Western Balkans University Modernization by Incorporating Virtual Technologies in the Erasmus+ program by Alexander Moisiu University in Durrës, Albania as a leader. The project consortium consists of 11 partners: 8 are Balkan universities from Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia, and 3 are universities as experts in modern forms of teaching from Estonia, Poland and Slovenia.

The coordinator of the project on the Polish side is a representative of Lodz University of Technology, Dorota Kamińska, PhD, from the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering.

- The project is scheduled for three years. Thanks to the inclusion of virtual technology and interactive learning methods, it will be possible to improve the quality of education, as well as to build a digital society in the countries of the Western Balkans - informs Dr. Dorota Kaminska. - The specific objectives of the project include building the capacity of academic staff to integrate virtual technologies into the educational process and developing teaching methods using ICT technologies and tools based on the knowledge and experience of expert partners.

The project also provides for equipping students with competences in using and accessing software tools and platforms, as well as developing opportunities for future joint research and innovative ideas with the support of virtual technologies, in cooperation with the socio-economic environment.
