The award has been given since 2016 in the following six categories: Life Sciences/Agricultural Sciences, Medical Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology, and Social Sciences. It forms part of Elsevier's global effort to support research and the advancement of science.
Lodz University of Technology owes its success to the research output of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences. In 2016-2018, 214 research publications in life sciences and agricultural sciences were affiliated to TUL in the Scopus base. More than 19% of them were by international co-authors, whereas 16 % were in the top 10% of the most cited research outputs.
The winners of this edition of the ELSEVIER Research Impact Leaders Award in the remaining five categories were: the University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, Lublin University of Technology, SWPS University of Humanities and Social Sciences, Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
