In this year’s edition of the Image Cup competition, the team of the Technical University of Lodz, the CodeRaiders, won in the category of software designing. The CodeRasiders will represent Poland in the world’s final tournament of the competition in New York City. The team composed of Błażej Rybczyński, Dominik Dereń, Michał Orzełek, Michał Skuza, Piotr Jaszczyk as well as with their supervisor, Marcin Franc, launched out the project ‘LifeCircle+’. The team members are the current students of Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology and Applied Mathematics; Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering; and their supervisor works at the Department of Microelectronics and Computer Science. The motto of the 2011edition is “Imagine a world in which technology helps resolving the most difficult problems of the human kind”.
The ‘LifeCircle+’ project is a distracted system designed to rationalise the current methods of saving human live. It is to use a portable application created for massive receivers which provides a continuous connection with a blood centre. Thanks to that invention, in case of a sudden requirement for blood and transfusion, members of staff of any blood centre will be able to locate the closest available donors with a particular blood group, and contact them as soon as possible. The important feature of the system is the idea of donating blood through integrating the portable application with social networking portals and websites.
