A textronic system for measurement of physiological parameters, especially to identify sleep apnoea – an anti-snore device (Antychrapek)

Sleep apnoea syndrome (SAS) affects more than 8 million Poles. SAS is found in approx. 40% of women and in 80% of men. SAS is not just unpleasant snoring but, above all it is hypoxia, causing sleepiness and chronic fatigue syndrome. The sleep of patients with SAS is practically deprived of the deep phase.

The technology, designed and developed by a team at the Department of Textile Machine Mechanics, is represented in a textronic device, intended to monitor the frequency of respiratory rhythm and automatically identify the dyspnoea phase during sleep, thus providing a cheap diagnostic measure and boosting the treatment of this condition.

This technology may find applications in production of measuring-diagnostic clothing for persons with respiratory problems.
