'Lodz University of Technology and the university of Perth have met more or less halfway' Marshal Grzegorz Schreiber said pointing to Łódź, Dubai and Perth on the displayed map. ‘It gives me satisfactions that that our cooperation with the university is multi-faceted, from scholarships for students, through research, to the possibility of inspiring representatives of the world of academia to act, which leads to the signing of agreements with major universities of the world’.

Curtin University is in the top 1 percent of the best universities in the world according to university rankings.

‘The University in Perth is known for its strong connections with manufacturing, conducting research and implementing technological innovation to serve the needs of the economy and offering a great selection of innovative courses. Without a doubt, the university will be of great support in enhancing innovation of both Lodz University of Technology and the entire region of Łódź’ prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, the Rector, explained.

Curtin University has over 50,000 students, more than 3000 academic staff and maintains strong international partnerships with institutions and universities in 30 countries around the world.

The university's main campus is located in Perth, but Curtin University also has locations outside Australia - in Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius.

The education offer of Lodz University of Technology and Curtin University is in many areas convergent, including mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, environmental engineering and sustainability, as well as architecture and civil engineering, all of which are the reason why the two universities have expressed their intention to collaborate closely. The collaboration is to include research projects, particularly those supported by international funding, as well as the exchange of staff and students.

As Professor Jóźwik has pointed out 'The first projects under the ERASMUS+ program are already being planned as a plane for transferring good practice and pooling the research and teaching potential of both universities. Also, collaborative actions for sustainable development are being discussed; Curtin University plays a major role in this field and the fact that Lodz University of Technology is a member of the Baltic University creates opportunities for establishing cooperation in this area’.

Full details of these initiatives will be specified in separate agreements. Further developments within the newly formed partnership will be coordinated by the International Cooperation Centre.
