The award-winning contribution falls into one of the most important currents in organic chemistry today, that is, asymmetric catalysis. The research involves developing new organocatalytic strategies of synthesis. They are primarily methodological in nature and are perfectly aligned with contemporary directions in the development of organic synthesis. They often afford unexpected results and are distinctly marked with scientific innovation.

Among the particularly noteworthy research ideas are: new vinylogous reactivities involving functionalized polyenes, dearomatization reactions, and new annulation protocols for the formation of carbo- and heterocyclic compounds. The innovative factor of the developed solutions resides in their synthetic aspects (new reaction profiles, new way of activating reactants), selectivity (aspects related to unprecedented regioselectivity or chemoselectivity of reactions) as well as the possibility to introduce new reactants for chemical synthesis.

A number of the developed methodologies are tandem reactions, which is of great practical value.

The studies completed to date have yielded a number of publications on asymmetric organocatalysis, all of which have been featured in prestigious chemical journals, including: Angewandte Chemie, Organic Letters, Chemical Communications, Chemistry – A European Journal, Journal of Organic Chemistry, Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry. The following publishers have highlighted these works with illustrations on the journal covers: Chem. Eur. J., Chem. Commun., Org. Biomol. Chem., Eur. J. Org. Chem., Asian J. Org. Chem. oraz Org. Lett.
