The project involves 8 Balkan universities: from Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia and three from Estonia, Poland, and Slovenia as experts in modern forms of teaching. In addition, the project team from the Lodz University of Technology, led by Dorota Kaminska, PhD from the Faculty of EEIA, participated in the event.

Participation in the hackathon was open to all students from participating universities and other universities and interested people, including employees of companies from North Macedonia.

The Commission selected the three most successful projects from the 16 participants combined into project teams, determined the winner, and distributed prizes. The VR/AR Hackathon will be organized again in 2022. Such events are designed to verify the competence of project participants. As it is implemented, significant progress can be seen in Balkan university students' knowledge of virtual technologies and soft skills.

The VTECH project's general aim is to introduce the concept of Virtual Technologies at Western Balkan universities as a tool for accelerating university modernization while contributing to developing a knowledge-driven society. Furthermore, by incorporating Virtual Technology in the academic culture of universities, this project aims at increasing the quality and level of efficiency in teaching and knowledge retention through interactive learning methods, thus contributing to skills enhancement and further building of a digital society in Western Balkan countries.
