The aim of the cooperation between Lodz University of Technology and Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza S.A. (KGS) is to boost innovation in the agricultural, food and feed sectors of the Polish economy.

Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik, TUL rector, pointed out that the partnership will involve research, development, and education with the two institutions working together on key issues relevant to agriculture, rural areas, and consumers.

Wojciech Pomajda, a member of the KGS Board of Directors, presented the company as a dynamically developing enterprise, implementing innovation in both agricultural production and modern technologies. KGS is an important player in the domestic and international sugar market and is also active in the starch, agricultural, seed, and food and food processing sectors. Cooperation between the university and the holding company is expected to pave the way  for modern technology transfer, study visits, and student internships.

Lodz University of Technology is proud of the unique research and teaching in the field of sugar industry. By completing internships in sugar factories students gain valuable experience and their degree theses contribute to the development of factories. Stanislaw Brzezinski, TUL professor, who has long been teaching in the field of sugar production, drew attention to the fact that the students have already contributed to the modernization of technological processes.

The research conducted at the Department of Sugar Industry and Food Safety Management concentrates on by-products generated in sugar production. Its goal is enable sustainable and maximally economical production. ‘Our Accredited Sugar Analytical Laboratory is prepared to support the National Food Group in advanced sugar analysis,’ stated professor Andrzej Baryga, head of the Department.
