Following the election, Rector Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik stated,  ‘Universities are facing many challenges that compel us to work together, but also to reflect, as well as to work hard.’

The new Chairman, whose term begins on September 1, 2024, further said that apart from research funding and the efforts to support young researchers as they are crucial for the development of Poland, special attention should be given to meaningful changes in how educational process is approached.

‘We are part of the international academic community; we are present not only in the European, but in the global system of higher education. We need to build our competitive edge within this system. The world is changing at a break-a-neck speed, and universities need to be more flexible and more agile in their responses to the challenges of today. We need to provide the younger generation, students and doctoral candidates, with competencies not for today, but for a future we do not yet know. We need to encourage their creativity and support independent thinking’.

Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, thanking for having been elected, said, ‘As Chairman, I pledge to work on the challenges we are facing for the sake and benefit of our universities and our country. Together we can build strong and innovative higher education that will be Poland’s pride.’
