The Złoty Inżynier (Golden Engineer) award vote organized by Przegląd techniczny magazine for its readership is held in high regard that is well-deserved by the group of individuals who contribute to the progress of humanity. The 29th edition of the vote was decided at the beginning of March. Among the winners there are two people from Lodz University of Technology: dr inż. Adam Rylski was awarded the title of Złoty Inżynier in the category Innovation, whereas Aleksandra Bednarek was honored with the title of Honorowy Złoty Inżynier (Honorary Golden Engineer).

Dr inż. Adam Rylski, Institute of Materials Engineering, already holds the title of Srebrny Inżynier (Silver Engineer) 2020. He has been ceaselessly promoting Polish innovation and inventions at international exhibitions. He has co-developed 61 innovations, which include award-winning 15 patents and patent applications. He is a four-time winner of Łódzkie Eureka award.

His research work concentrates on physical and chemical aspects of solid surfaces, deposition of thin film coatings exhibiting specific properties by physical vapour deposition methods. He is a co-author of more than 80 publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals, has participated in several research projects funded by KBN, NCBR, and three EU funded projects.

He served as deputy chairman of the Polish Federation of Engineering Associations FSNT–NOT, and currently chairs the Łódź FSNT-NOT Council. He is the holder of many prestigious international decorations, e.g., the Gold Medal of the World Intellectual Property Organisation WIPO, the Gold Cross of Merit of the International Order of Merit of the Inventors – IOMI, and the Commander's Cross Merite de L'Invention, as well as Polish decorations, e.g., the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Silver Cross of Merit, and the Medal of the Commission of National Education.

The title of Honorowy Złoty Inżynier, awarded to inż. Aleksandra Bednarek, is granted to recognize individuals who seamlessly combine a passion for science with other life’s pursuits. You may know that Ola, who majors in biotechnology and participates in research projects, is a swimmer recognized for her accomplishments in open water and winter swimming.

The award ceremony held in conjunction with the World Engineering Day took place on March 3, 2023 at the FSNT-NOT headquarters. The awards were presented by Andrzej Dera, Secretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, Martyna Jachimowicz, Editor-in-Chief of Przegląd Techniczny, Wojciech Murdzek, Secretary of State, Government Plenipotentiary for Reforming the Functioning of Research Institutes, and Ewa Mańkiewicz-Cudny, FSNT-NOT President.
