Professor Stanisław Bielecki was born in Sandomierz on 9 November 1946. 
He began his studies at Lodz University of Technology at the Department of Food Chemistry in 1965. After graduating in 1970, he began working at the university, where he obtained his doctoral degree and post-doctoral degree (habilitation) in 1978 and 1990 respectively. He became associate professor in 1993 and he was appointed full professor in 2002. 

Important functions:

  • at the University: Rector of Lodz University of Technology (2008 - 2016), Vice-Rector for Research and Development (2002-2008), Dean of the Department of Food Chemistry (1996-2002), Vice-Dean of the Department of Food Chemistry (1993-1996), director of the Institute of Technical Biochemistry (since 1998)
  • outside the University: chairperson of the Commission of Biotechnology at Lodz Division of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2003), chairperson of the Committee of Biotechnology at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2003), coordinator of the Polish Technology Platform of Bioeconomy (2004-2006), member of the Executive Board and chairperson of the Biotechnology Section of the Polish Biochemical Society (1996-2001).
