The aim of the call is to select individuals who will be involved in research within the " Long live the radicals: empoying structural facilitation strategy in photo-organocatalytic reactions and bifunctional catalysts design " project, carried out at the Faculty of Chemistry, Lodz University of Technology.
Requirements:
- Completed higher education in chemistry/chemical technology or related fields (final-year Master's students may also apply after submitting a letter from their supervisor stating their graduation date by September 10, 2025),
- Status as a PhD student at the Faculty of Chemistry, Lodz University of Technology at the time of commencing the Project,
- Good knowledge and research interest in organic chemistry,
- Knowledge of spectroscopic methods and their application to the identification of organic compounds,
- Good command of English, both written and spoken,
- Ability to work in a team, strong motivation and enthusiasm for research and further scientific development, creativity, and independence in planning and conducting experiments.
Task Description:
The aim of the project is to enhance the potential of organocatalysis by utilizing photochemistry as a tool. We expect that this approach will lead to the development of new methods for the synthesis of important chiral building blocks and chemically or biologically important molecules. The synthetic methodologies proposed in the project leverage the potential of two dynamically developing fields of science: fotochemistry and organocatalysis, opening access to
compounds that cannot be obtained using classical methods. These approaches are environmentally friendly because they will be implemented under mild conditions and are characterized by high atom economy, thus aligning with the sustainable development strategy. As part of the project, the PhD Student-Scholarship Holder (f/m) will conduct research related to the development and optimization of conditions for selected photo-organocatalytic reactions and synthesis of photo-organocatalysts. The PhD Student-Scholarship Holder (f/m) will be responsible for identifying new reaction pathways and optimizing reaction conditions. The PhD Student-Scholarship Holder (f/m) will also be required to prepare interim reports and scientific publications based on the results of the conducted research. The PhD Student-Scholarship Holder (f/m) will receive a stipend for the duration of the project.

- This is an open competition. The recruitment process is based on the provisions of the "Regulations for the Award of Scholarships in Research Projects Funded by the National Science Centre" (Annex to NCN Council Resolution No. 25/2019 of March 14, 2019).
