The World Bioeconomy Association (WBA) is a global non-profit association established in December 2024 during the World Bioeconomy Forum in Washington, D.C. As Prof. Bielecki emphasizes:
The organization is a global hub supporting the development of the bioeconomy as a driving force for solutions to challenges related to climate change, biodiversity protection, food security, and health, based on the sustainable use of biological resources, innovative biotechnologies, and biomanufacturing.
Professor Bielecki’s achievements perfectly align with the mission of the WBA. He is a recognized expert in molecular and industrial biotechnology, enzyme engineering, biocatalysis, biomaterials, and the bacterial biosynthesis of nanocellulose. The author and co-author of more than 200 scientific publications, 56 patents, and 3 patent applications, and the founder of the Łódź school of industrial biotechnology, he has for years combined basic research with industrial applications, becoming one of the pioneers of the bioeconomy in Poland.
Professor Bielecki has played a key role in building national and international structures supporting biotechnology and the bioeconomy. He is a co-founder of the International Center for Research on Innovative Biobased Materials (ICRIBioM) and numerous technology platforms, including the Polish Technology Platform for Biotechnology and the Polish Technology Platform for the Bioeconomy, which gave rise to the Bioeconomy Cluster Association. His activities also include work in committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), scientific councils of research institutes, and European structures, including the European Bioeconomy Stakeholders Panel at the European Commission, as well as co-authorship of the Bioeconomy Manifesto.
As Ambassador of the World Bioeconomy Association, Prof. Stanisław Bielecki brings to the role a unique combination of scientific expertise, organizational experience, and a vision of the bioeconomy as one of the pillars of a modern, sustainable economy.
