We began the celebration last year with a group photo of members of the academic community, who formed the number 80. Nearly 1,000 people posed for this unique photograph.
We will have many opportunities for meetings and joint celebrations in 2025 as well. Nothing builds team spirit like sports emotions, which will certainly be present during the Great Tournament of Lodz University of Technology. - At the end of March, there will be an individual tournament in badminton and table tennis, swimming competitions in May, and at the beginning of June, we plan a run, Nordic walking march, and a cycling rally – informs Ewa Brochocka, PhD director of the TUL Sports Centre.
The award ceremony for tournament winners will take place on June 6 during a picnic for employees and friends of the Polytechnic. This will be an opportunity for conversations and fun, including activities for children, for whom a painting competition titled "TUL as Parents' Workplace" has been prepared by the Human Capital Management Centre.
The jubilee aims to build a united academic community in which alumni play a key role. To appreciate their contribution to the university's development, a mentoring program titled "The Power of Community" will launch in March.
We would like to harness the potential of alumni so that our students can develop personally and professionally under the guidance of their older and more experienced colleagues - comments Małgorzata Skomiał, head of the Careers Office responsible for implementing the program. Several mentors have already declared their participation in this project.
The 80th anniversary is also an opportunity to reflect on the future of science and technology. On January 23 and 24, a Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities will take place at TUL, and on March 4, Lodz University of Technology will participate in celebrations for World Engineer’s Day for Sustainable Development. From March 10-14, we will celebrate the 3rd edition of Research Week, culminating in an open day for prospective students.
The climax of jubilee events will occur in May when we will have doctoral promotions and student festivities (juwenalia), along with a ceremonial Senate meeting during which the title of doctor honoris causa will be awarded to Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament. A significant part of the ceremony will also be the opening of part of the laboratory-educational building at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering – Alchemium.
The jubilee calendar also includes conferences, symposia, competitions, and galas organized by various departments within our university. Program details are available on our website.
