These innovative tableware products will feature good mechanical properties, high thermal stability, biodegradability, and will be suitable for human consumption.
The project involves using fruit and vegetable waste to create a mixture that will be used to produce edible, biodegradable disposable tableware with health-promoting properties. These innovative tableware items will be highly biodegradable, meaning they will decompose quickly when discarded as bio-waste. Additionally, they will not affect the taste of hot dishes and beverages served in them.
To meet the needs of various consumers and expand the market reach, the nutritional value of the disposable tableware will be determined. Furthermore, in vitro studies will be conducted to examine whether the ingredients released during digestion of the tableware can inhibit the activity of enzymes associated with the development of diabetes. This ensures that the final product will be suitable for consumption by diabetics.
