Over the course of four years, the FRONTSH1P project successfully guided the Lodz region through numerous aspects of a green and just transition, moving away from its linear economic base. This transformation encompassed decarbonisation and territorial regeneration. Within the project, four Circular Systemic Solutions (CSS) were implemented and showcased, focusing on key sectors: wooden packaging, food and feed, water and nutrients, as well as plastic and rubber waste.
Each CSS solution, designed to support decarbonisation, was successfully implemented in the Lodz Voivodeship. Several of them were also adopted in four other European regions: Campania (Italy), Central Greece (Greece), Norte (Portugal), and Friesland (the Netherlands).
The event featured contributions by, among others: Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik – the project’s coordinator at Lodz University of Technology; Radosław Rzeźnik – Deputy Head of the Department for Climate and Environment; Bartłomiej Grobner – President of K-Flex (the project’s lead company); Kamil Maszczyk – Project Manager and K-Flex representative; Fabio Magrassi – STAM srl (Italian project co-coordinator); Ryszard Nowakowski – Mayor of Parzęczew; and the initiative’s co-founders, Michele Andolfo (ARTIGO) and Marcin Podgórski (University of Lodz).
By establishing Regional Circularity Clusters, FRONTSH1P actively engaged a broad community of local, regional, and national stakeholders from both the public and private sectors. This inclusive approach ensured that no one was left behind in the pursuit of sustainable and circular solutions, contributing to a more resilient and collaborative European circular economy.
As part of the project, several outputs were created, including a series of guides (https://opus.org.pl/misja-cyrkularnosc), the Circulab festival (https://circulab.pl/), and the manual Circular Economy in the Municipality (https://www.zmbzura.pl/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Gospodarka-Cyrkularna…).
