Professor Krysinski was accompanied on his last journey by a crowd of Łódź residents, representatives of the academic world, students and colleagues from Poland and abroad.

An extremely moving part of the funeral ceremony was the farewells, which were concluded by his son, Tomasz Krysinski. Beforehand, people listened to the memories of the great man that Professor Krysinski was, which were shared in front of the Family and those gathered in the Archcathedral Basilica by: Paweł Bliźniuk, MP of the Polish Sejm, Alicja Bień, Honorary Consul of France in Łódź, who also passed on the content of the letter sent by the Senate of the Republic of Poland and the French Ambassador to Poland, Adam Wieczorek, Deputy Mayor, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector, and Dorota Piotrowska, Director of CWM-IFE, Prof. PŁ.

The beautiful musical setting was created by the Choir and Orchestra of Lodz University of Technology and artists from the Łódź Academy of Music and the Grand Theatre, for many years engaged in the ‘Music at Lodz University of Technology University’ series, who performed works for soprano and organ, as well as two violas and an organ. The musical setting of the Liturgy of the Mass, prepared by Professor Aleksandra Nawe, was performed by Professor Dorota Wójcik - soprano, Professor Jolanta Kukuła-Kopczyńska and Professor Róża Wilczak - violas. The late Rector, who loved France, was also played ‘Sous le ciel de Paris’ (Under the Sky of Paris) performed on the accordion by Aleksander Stachowski ...

TUL Rector Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik bid farewell to Professor Jan Krysiński with the following words:

Dear Rector,
These are sad days, full of grief and disbelief. How can it be that you will no longer be with us?

We are gathered today in our Cathedral in Łódź to pay tribute to you, a scholar, an erudite man, a leader, a visionary, a role model, but above all, a great man who always treated other people with great respect and understanding, as the most important, as the greatest value. We are here together to bid you farewell, to accompany you on this last journey here on earth.

Your immediate family is present here, to whom we extend our sympathy. Your wife, Dr Halina, with whom you were one, your son Tomasz with his wife, your grandchildren and their nearest and dearest, the whole family. Your neighbours, your friends, the residents of Łódź, the city of which you are an honorary citizen. And we are here, the academic community of your beloved Lodz University of Technology. The students, and among them the students of the International Faculty of Engineering, which you conceived and established, doctoral students, staff members from all groups, including those from the three faculties you established, from your Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, of which you were Dean, and also colleagues from the Institute of Turbomachinery - your place of work, the Institute which you ran for 17 years. There are alumni, including those who graduated in the field of power engineering, which you also created. There are former employees of our university, representatives of other universities, including those associated in the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities of Technology, which you presided over for three years.

Dear Rector,

Representatives of the many institutions you have brought to life are also bidding you farewell. Already grown up first students of the Łódź Children's University, students and graduates of the Public Secondary School of TUL, one of the best in Poland, students-listeners of the University of the Third Age, lovers of music, art and culture, participants and performers of the ‘Music at Lodz University of Technology’ salon and the ‘Thursday Cultural Forum’, musicians of the Lodz University of Technology Orchestra and members of the Lodz University of Technology Choir, which gained its second life during your rectorship. We are all here together to pay tribute and honour you, Dear Rector – a great man who became the history of Lodz University of Technology and the city of Lodz already in his lifetime.

Dear and esteemed Rector,

I think that if there was someone like Jan Kochanowski among us today, he would write:
Wielkieś nam uczynił pustki w Politechnice naszej
Tym zniknieniem Swoim, nasz Drogi Rektorze.
Pełno nas, a dziś jakoby nikogo nie było.
Jedną, choć malutką, to tak wielką duszą tak wiele ubyło.

It is so difficult to come to terms with reality, so hard for me to imagine that I will no longer be able to talk to you about our beloved Lodz University of Technology, to hear your opinions, your reflections, to benefit from your vast and wide knowledge, to experience your unparalleled kindness.

On behalf of all of us, but also expressing my gratitude, I thank you for everything, I thank you for your humanity, I thank you for this legacy that we will cherish and nurture. I promise that we will not forget the values that you have passed on to us over the years. We will carry the memories of our shared moments in our hearts and may they be a source of strength and encouragement for us at different moments in our lives.

Dear Professor,
Dear and cherished Rector,
You remain forever in the history of Lodz University of Technology, you remain forever in our hearts and in our memories. I am not saying goodbye to you, but see you.
Rest in peace.

Professor Jan Krysiński’s eternal resting place is the Alley of the Deserving in the Doły Communal Cemetery at Al. Palki 1 in Łódź.
