At the Session of Master's and Doctoral Students of the Lodz Chemists' Environment, Monika Kaczmarek, MSc, Eng., won the award for the best communication. It concerned the process of oxidation of bacterial nanocellulose by unique enzymes. This process is an alternative to the chemical methods used so far and opens up new areas of application of bionanocellulose.

The award for the best poster among Doctoral students went to Weronika Śliżewska, MSc, Eng., who presented research on hyphae fungi obtained from extreme environments (m.in low temperatures, high salinity), the aim of which is to search for biomolecules that can be used, for example, in the food industry.

At the Polish Yeast Conference, Marcin Sypka, MSc, Eng, presented research on the industrial potential of cold-loving yeast belonging to the IBMiP collection. For his presentation, he received the award for the best conference speech of a young scientist.

Anna Cociurovscaia, MSc. Eng., presented the best conference poster at the Crystallographic Seminar. The PhD student conducts research on the spatial structure of proteins, the action of which is closely related to the survival of bacterial cells in the presence of factors harmful to them. This knowledge can make a significant contribution to the design of antibiotics.
