The “PraktykOn” programme creates conditions in which diploma theses become not only the culmination of studies but also the starting point for solutions developed in real technological and research projects. As a result, students gain experience working on challenges of practical relevance, develop competencies sought after by employers, and transition more easily into their professional careers. At the same time, the university and OPI PIB jointly strengthen the transfer of knowledge and innovation into practice.

As the Rector of TUL emphasised: “The cooperation will cover areas including artificial intelligence, data analysis, technical computer science, telecommunications, and quality management. The aim of the programme is not only to support the preparation of high-quality diploma theses, but also to conduct research on significant problems, produce joint scientific publications, and support the professional development of students and graduates.”

Working on specific business challenges will allow students to build a portfolio of projects, establish connections with the academic and business communities, and benefit from the support of OPI PIB experts. Importantly, students of Lodz University of Technology will gain access to OPI’s modern research environment, real datasets, and tools used in projects carried out by the institute.

Each thesis carried out within the “PraktykOn” programme will follow a tripartite model, involving the student, a supervisor from Lodz University of Technology, and a subject-matter mentor from OPI PIB. This approach enables participants to benefit both from the university’s academic potential and from the experience of experts involved in research and development projects.

The “PraktykOn” programme is an OPI initiative that supports cooperation between academia and the research and development sector, offering students the opportunity to gain experience in projects addressing current technological and social challenges and facilitating their entry into the labour market.
