This change responds to the clearly growing and increasingly diverse needs of the academic community. As noted by Joanna Sztobryn-Giercuszkiewicz, PhD - head of the unit:
In recent years, universities have observed a steady increase in the number of people experiencing emotional, psychological, and cognitive difficulties. Problems related to stress, overload, anxiety, low mood, or concentration increasingly affect the learning process, social functioning, and overall well-being of students, doctoral candidates, and staff. At the same time, support is needed not only for those with officially recognized disabilities, but also for those facing temporary crises, specific learning difficulties, or adaptation challenges.
In response to these needs, the Academic Support Zone combines the experience developed by the former Office for Persons with Disabilities with a broader approach to supporting the academic community. The Academic Support Zone structure comprises two sections::
- Section for Persons with Disabilities, continuing the previous activities of the Office for Persons with Disabilities;
- Psychological Support Section “Przystań” (Haven), offering free, professional assistance to students, doctoral candidates, and staff.
The Academic Support Zone Office is located (as before) in Building A30, 116 Żeromskiego Street (phone: 42 631 28 87, Email: rsn@adm.p.lodz.pl).
