For the Academic City of Lodz, this will be a special year, as most public universities in Lodz will celebrate their 80th jubilee.
The ceremony will begin with a speech by Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik, the Rector of Lodz University of Technology, who will discuss the collaboration of Lodz universities within the Lodz Academic Partnership, joint scientific and cultural initiatives, and the possibilities of implementing international research programs, highlighting the significant financial benefits derived from European programs. Many new investments at our universities have been made possible thanks to EU funds, and the conditions for education have reached a world-class level.
Another important part of the program will be the matriculation of newly admitted students and doctoral candidates. Representatives from all six universities belonging to Lodz Academic Partnership will be present: the Academy of Music, the Academy of Fine Arts, Lodz University of Technology, the University of Lodz, the Medical University, and the Film School.
The inaugural lecture titled "Why do we need a fourteenth Alice? On the meaning of renewed translations" will be delivered by Professor Jerzy Jarniewicz from the University of Lodz, a poet, translator, and literary scholar, who is the recipient of the 2022 NIKE Literary Award.
The ceremony, which will be streamed online by the TUL Multimedia Centre, will be enriched by performances from the Medical University Choir and students from the Academy of Music. Everyone is warmly invited to watch.
The event is partnered with the Artur Rubinstein Lodz Philharmonic.
