The results of the latest edition of the international QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026 have been announced. Lodz University of Technology (TUL) maintained its presence in the ranking, achieving the 381st position in Europe and ranking in the 1051-1060 range globally. In Poland, it was ranked 15th among 26 universities.

The University performed best in the “Health & Wellbeing” indicator group, which assesses the university's involvement in improving the health and well-being of humanity (through research) as well as that of its employees and students. In this category, TUL was ranked 356th in the world.

This year's edition includes almost 2,000 institutions from around the world, underscoring the growing importance of sustainable development efforts in higher education. The global leaders of the ranking are: Lund University (Sweden), University of Toronto (Canada), and University College London (United Kingdom). In Poland, the highest rankings were awarded to the Jagiellonian University (271st place), the University of Warsaw (286th place), and the University of Gdańsk (363rd place).

The QS Sustainability ranking analyzes the contribution of universities to building a sustainable future, considering 53 indicators grouped into three main areas: Environmental Impact, Social Impact, and Governance.

The QS World University Rankings: Sustainability assesses university performance in the fields of environment, social responsibility, and corporate governance (ESG). The ranking relies on evidence of commitment—from the impact that graduates

have on science and technology to solve climate issues, to the influence of research carried out under the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—allowing for a comprehensive analysis of the contribution of academic institutions to shaping a sustainable future.
