Scientific achievements

Dr Krystian Polczyński, assistant professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Lodz University of Technology, studies nonlinear dynamics of magneto-mechanical and mechatronic systems. His work focuses on the dynamics of pendulums and oscillators subjected to magnetic forcing, including bifurcations, chaos, multistability, and energy transfer in coupled systems.

His key achievement is the development and experimental verification of physical and mathematical models of oscillatory systems with magnetic interactions. These results support the design of reliable and adaptive mechatronic systems in which vibration control, motion stability and electromagnetic interactions are essential.

Research profile and research directions

Dr Polczyński’s research combines mathematical modelling, numerical analysis and experiments. His papers have been published in journals such as Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, Journal of Sound and Vibration, Mechanism and Machine Theory and Nonlinear Dynamics.

Future work will focus on dynamics of chains of oscillators subjected to magnetic interactions and on controlling energy transfer between system elements. The aim is to develop methods for controlling energy transfer in accordance with functional and application requirements.

Projects cooperation and recognition

In 2022–2024 he led the PRELUDIUM 20 project funded by the National Science Centre and participated in OPUS projects as contractor and scholarship holder. He cooperated with researchers from the USA, Ukraine, Cameroon and India, producing publications on dynamics of magnetically excited systems.

He is active at international conferences, reviews for recognised journals and contributes to scientific and educational events. He received a distinction for his doctoral dissertation, IDUB awards and twice the “Best Academic Teacher” award.
