Research achievements

Bartłomiej Jabłoński, M.Sc., is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer, and Control Engineering, Lodz University of Technology. His achievements include publications in prestigious journals, including the Journal of Fusion Energy. He has received numerous awards for his scientific achievements, including awards from the City of Lodz. He has 
also won awards for best presentations at international summer schools,  such as PhDiaFusion 2021 and the 16th Kudowa Summer School 2022. His expertise has been recognized by an invitation to review articles for the journal Fusion Engineering and Design. 

Research profile and research directions

Jabłoński’s research interests focus on the applications of artificial intelligence, computer vision, and real-time image processing for the diagnostics of thermonuclear fusion research devices. In his work, he utilizes advanced platforms, such as graphics accelerators and embedded systems, enabling the implementation of innovative IT solutions in energy infrastructure. His work directly supports the development of control technologies essential for the operation of modern installations, including tokamaks.

Collaboration with industry, implementation and expertise

As a member of the research team, MSc Jabłoński actively supports projects of global importance, such as ITER and the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator. From 2022 to 2025, he was the principal investigator and principal investigator of an individual Horizon Europe EUROfusion Engineering Grant, under which he developed and deployed the Thermal Overload Detection (TOD) algorithm, crucial for the safety of components exposed to plasma. The IT support for diagnostic processes he implements is fundamental to the safe and efficient operation of fusion systems. The researcher’s achievements stem from intensive international collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP), the CEA in France, and the ITER Organization. His work aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), combining computer science theory with the requirements of the most demanding industrial sectors.
