Scientific achievements
Professor Andrzej Bartoszewicz of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering at Lodz University of Technology is a leading specialist in control theory, sliding mode control and discretetime systems. His 2020–2025 output includes numerous papers in top journals such as IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions
on Industrial Electronics, Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, ISA Transactions and IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering.
His key achievement is the creation of a Polish school of discrete-time sliding mode control. This work includes reaching laws, quasi-sliding modes, model-reference strategies, disturbance attenuation and applications in
communication networks, energy systems, drives and cyber-physical systems.
Research profile and research directions
Professor Bartoszewicz’s research focuses on continuous and discrete sliding mode control, robust control, systems with constraints, networked systems, power electronics, drives and cyber-physical systems. His work is relevant to stability, reliability and robustness of control in mobile and networked systems.
Future research will further develop the theory and applications of continuous and discrete sliding mode control, including methods robust to uncertainty, signal constraints and disturbances.
International cooperation and recognition
Professor Bartoszewicz has extensive international cooperation documented by numerous publications with foreign co-authors. He lectured at a Winter Doctoral School in India, supervised doctoral researchers from Germany, Austria, India and Serbia, and was invited as a lecturer at a Summer Doctoral School in Exeter.He is a full member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, President of the PAS Branch in Lodz, Chair of the PAS Committee on Automatic Control and Robotics, and a member of the Council of Scientific Excellence. These roles confirm his strong standing in the national and international control community.
