The artworks are part of a scholarly artistic project concerning the reconstruction and adaptation of the destroyed industrial structures in Ukraine. They are also a form of artistic expression in times of military conflict. The exhibited photographs portraying the southern part of war-stricken Ukraine are the product of a collaboration between prof. Yulia Ivashko (Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture) and Sergei Belinskiy, an Ukrainian Army officer and a direct participant in the events.

The exhibition comes in the wake of prof. Yulia Ivashko's fellowship at the University of Lodz under a research grant from the Excellence Initiative - Research University (IDUB) scheme. The 2022 edition of łódzki IDUB provided support for Ukrainian researchers impacted by the hostilities. Prof. Ivashko has undertaken a number of scholarly and artistic initiatives to familiarize Łódź academia with this dramatic subject.

The exhibition has been shown at Galeria Wozownia 11 of the University of Lodz and at the University of Ostrava. Prof. Aneta Pawłowska of the University of Lodz is the curator of the exhibition, while dr inż. arch. Joanna Matuszewska and dr inż. arch. Tomasz Grzelakowski, on behalf of the IAiU TUL, are responsible for the organizational tasks related to the exhibition.
