GUST team's latest design stands out for its reduced carbon footprint, use of locally-sourced materials and flax fiber-based biocomposite. The international expert jury was especially impressed by the students’ in-depth life cycle analysis (LCA).

GUST team has been continually improving its designs. The students have time and time again proved that hard work and commitment bring concrete results. ‘This year we presented a completely new design, featuring a new generator and an innovative variable pitch system. GUST turbine has proved efficient and reliable in winds exceeding speeds of up to 12 m/s’, reported Jakub Talczewski, the team's PR section.

The International Competition for Small Wind Turbines was held at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, whereas turbine testing was done at Delft University of Technology. Lodz University of Technology students outcompeted teams from Canada, Denmark, Greece, Spain, and the Netherlands.

GUST project involves an interdisciplinary team of students from the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering; Organization and Management; Process and Environmental Engineering; and from the International Faculty of Engineering.

The students have already started thinking of solutions for the next, 2025 edition of the Competition.
‘We wish to thank all our sponsors and partners who saw the potential and supported the project. This is our shared success and we count on your further support in the future!’ stated the winners from Lodz University of Technology.
