What should the recipe for successful cooperation with the industry look like? It's a bit like an English lawn - you have to sow it and then systematically care for it for at least 100 years. It is true that the cooperation between BSH and Lodz University of Technology does not last that long, but today it can be said that its results are promising.

The joint adventure of engineers related to the household appliances industry and scientists from  Lodz University of Technology, representing various scientific disciplines, began with setting goals in line with the well-known concept of "win-win". The next step was the promotion of specific problems in the research areas being developed, as well as research and joint teaching. These steps contributed to the strengthening of cooperation under the agreement adopted in 2017, including the commencement of joint training with the company.

In the first weeks of February 2022, another group of students educated in the dual formula studies left the walls of Lodz University of Technology. Today they are engineers with a degree in mechatronics, distinguished by their thorough and accurate approach to solving problems. Their 5-semester studies were strongly supported by BSH. Thanks to the efforts of the supervisors from Lodz University of Technology cooperating with the tutors from BSH, complete studies of research topics appearing in the Lodz factory of household appliances were created. These studies have helped to develop and prepare graduates for a short employment path within the company.

- I am glad that thanks to the dual studies we can achieve our goals in the field of corporate social responsibility, and a significant number of students continue to cooperate with BSH during their master's studies. I am convinced that the professional experience and interdisciplinary knowledge gained by young people during their studies will help them enter the labor market - says Konrad Pokutycki, President of BSH Home Domestic Equipment.

Rector of TUL Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik emphasizes

- Cooperation with industry is one of the most interesting ways of development of our university staff from the point of view of the evaluation awaiting us and the challenges facing Polish science. It is also a way to acquire interesting topics for the implementation of research projects ending with the publication of articles in highly scored scientific journals as well as patents and implementations.

According to the Head of the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems, Prof. Sławomir Wiak, close contact with the industrial environment translates into above-average preparation of students for professional life. As he says

- This fact was also noticed by the Assessment Team of the Accreditation Committee of Universities of Technology, which positively distinguished the initiatives taken in this area in the field of mechatronics.

The whole project is supervised by a steering committee composed of: prof. Sławomir Wiak - Head of IMSI, Konrad Pokucki - president of the Management Board of BSH Hardware Gospodarstwa Domowego, Assoc. Prof. Eng. Łukasz Szymański, - Vice-Dean for Development of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering and Artur Salona - Director of the BSH Research and Development Centre, in cooperation with Assoc. Prof. Eng. Zbigniew Gmyrek, - chairman of the Council of Mechatronics.
