The meeting presenting the results of the work was attended by the project leader Dr Marta Miaskowska, together with four design students from TUL, and lecturers and students from partner universities in Portugal, Turkey and, as a guest, the USA. The exhibition was coordinated by Prof. Katarzyna Zimna.
The effects of the first workshop are prototypes of products made in jacquard and embroidery techniques. In combination with interactive media, they can be used to promote Lodz - the city of textile industry, design and film. A twelve-person PiCoDe team has developed a concept of an interactive map of Lodz murals combined with an application and a product called "Pokino" - a jacquard poncho with elements of digital embroidery, referring to scenes from cult Polish films.
The most important objective of the project, which will continue during the workshops in Turkey and Portugal, is to develop an idea for a new method of education and learning based on collective cooperation of designers from different creative specialties. PiCoDe is intended to prepare future art and design graduates to enter the job market and for interdisciplinary creative activities. During the workshops, students can develop their competencies as professional designers in a safe educational environment. The underlying assumption is collective action, the role of students as leaders, time pressure and the use of local resources - materials, technology and inspiration.
