A workshop on line production was held at the Lodz University of Technology's Non-Public Preschool. The product that the children produced were artistic Easter Bunnies, with each child adding specific decorative elements in a preset order. Even 3-year-olds showed that line production did not scare them and they were able to stay focused longer than expected.
The 4- and 6-year-olds from the Public Preschool No. 13 in Pabianice, on the other hand, continued their adventure with learning about different types of the organization of production having already participated in a previous workshop last December.
Being already familiar with the principles of line production, they were introduced to nested production (Ed: a production system where each workstation may cooperate with different workstations and the order of technological operations may vary). The commitment and eagerness to work in a way that was different from what they were used to allowed the children to also learn what make-to-stock production was as they produced decidedly more than was needed. They got a very good grasp of the concept of 2 nests producing components, the assembly nest, and transportation.
To reward the preschoolers for their enthusiastic efforts, they were presented with a diploma and took home a bunny.
