Lodz University of Technology, represented by Rector Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, played an active role in the exhibition. The university has been home to the TUL Defense and Security Research Center since 2022. That same year, Lodz University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, and Silesian University of Technology signed a collaborative agreement on Jastrząb Alliance, bringing together the research centers of the three institutions with the aim of exploring military applications for their regular, ongoing research and conducting research specifically geared towards broad security and defense applications. At MSPO, Lodz University of Technology showcased its catalog of technologies developed for defense purposes.

Rector Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik also participated in a panel discussion during the conference ‘Directions of Development of the Polish Security and Defense Sector’, organized by Warsaw University of Technology in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The panel featured Rector of the Silesian University of Technology Prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk, Vice Rector of the Military University of Technology Prof. Janusz Bogusz, and Vice Rector of Warsaw University of Technology, Prof. Adam Woźniak. The discussion was moderated by Piotr Kieraciński, editor-in-chief of Academic Forum.

Prof. Jóźwik emphasized the significance of the university’s research projects that are applicable to security and defense.

‘Our university’s research encompasses many projects with dual-use potential’, he noted. ‘During the discussion, I highlighted our expectations for collaboration. There is often skepticism about our capabilities, yet global corporations trust us with critical tasks, such as developing propulsion systems for advanced helicopters, which acknowledges the potential within Polish universities.’

The Rector also highlighted the need to clearly define the needs for projects serving security and defense, noting that universities must be able to translate these needs into actionable projects and collaborate with partners effectively.
