With a view to safety and monitoring of vital functions, a modern Laboratory of Intelligent Building Management Systems at the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineeringof Lodz University of Technology was officially opened. A number of the latest ICT solutions from leading companies have been installed in one space: Bosch, Schneider, SmartSys i Less.

The ceremony (26.04) took place with a large participation of representatives of the authorities of Lodz University of Technology. The symbolic ribbon was cut by the Rector of TUL Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik together with Professor Sławomir Wiak, Head of the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems, where the new laboratory is located.

The systems installed in the laboratory will allow for research and education in many areas, including areas related to the monitoring of people's vital functions - explains Prof. Wiak. - The laboratory, thanks to the well-thought-out configuration of the systems in it, will be an important support for the work carried out at Lodz University of Technology on the development of integrated mechatronic systems for building intelligent space inside the building.

The total cost of the investment amounted to PLN 2.5 million. It was co-financed from the budget of the Regional Operational Programme of the Lodz Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020, as part of the project "Interdisciplinary Research and Development Centre for Advanced Materials and Intelligent Management Systems in Construction 2020+ of Lodz University of Technology".

The event accompanying the opening ceremony of the Laboratory was an expert panel integrating specialists from companies, Lodz universities and research institutes. The leading topic of the meeting was the issue of integration of ICT and E-Health technologies aimed at improving the standard of living of the society.
