The ceremony was attended by the Rector's and Dean's authorities, numerous representatives of universities and scientific institutions.

- Our laboratory creates unique opportunities for research, staff development and education in areas of priority importance for the economy and the development of science, including m.in in areas related to the monitoring of people's vital functions - says Prof. Sławomir Wiak, head of the Institute.

IT infrastructure based on ICT technologies, including: virtual reality, Big Data, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and 5G and in the near future 6G, is a strategic goal in intelligent building management systems.

The laboratory, thanks to the well-thought-out configuration of the systems in it, will also be an important support for the work carried out at TUL on the development of integrated mechatronic systems for building intelligent indoor space.

According to Prof. Wiak - Discovering knowledge from databases collected in large numbers in systems installed in the laboratory is a key competence of the future and a source of innovative solutions in the management of intelligent buildings.

A very important event accompanying the opening ceremony of the Laboratory was an expert panel integrating specialists from companies, Universities in Lodz and research institutes. The leading topic of the panel was the issue of integration of ICT and E-Health technologies aimed at improving the standard (comfort) of life of societies.

A strategic approach to the key challenge of civilization, which is to increase the comfort of life of societies, requires the integration of the competences of Lodz scientific community. Priority Research Areas related to disciplines represented by Lodz universities and research institutes are primarily ICT technologies, medicine, materials engineering and chemistry (especially on the nano scale).

The new laboratory at the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems was co-financed from the budget of the Regional Operational Programme of the Lodz Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020, as part of the project: Interdisciplinary Research and Development Centre for Advanced Materials and Intelligent Management Systems in Construction 2020+ of Lodz University of Technology.
