A ranking that highlights the international impact of research

The ranking comprises two lists: one covers scientific achievements in a particular year, while the other considers researchers’ entire careers. This provides insight into both current research activity and the long-term impact of researchers’ work on the development of their respective fields. When comparing the proportion of the most highly cited researchers at Poland’s 20 largest technical universities and universities, Lodz University of Technology ranks third for career-long achievement and fourth for the previous year.

Lodz University of Technology maintains a strong presence

In this year’s edition, 32 researchers were included in the list covering achievements in 2025, while 43 featured in the career-long list. Some researchers appear in both categories, demonstrating that their achievements are recognised from both a short-term and a long-term perspective.

The inclusion of Lodz University of Technology researchers in this international ranking highlights the significance of the research conducted at the University and its contribution to the advancement of science worldwide.

“The ranking features both distinguished professors whose achievements have shaped science worldwide for decades and researchers who are setting new directions today. This combination of experience and fresh perspectives is a strength of Lodz University of Technology. We will continue to support our researchers so that even more of their names appear in future editions of the ranking,” emphasises prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of Lodz University of Technology.

The researchers recognised for their achievements in 2025 include 21 women, accounting for more than 65% of all TUL researchers in this category. Those included in the ranking represent a variety of research fields pursued at Lodz University of Technology.
