Lodz University of Technology, together with Veolia Energia Łódź, has been organizing a competition for the best master's thesis on energy for several years. The results have just been announced.

Each of the three finalists, selected from among 6 participants in the first stage of the paper's evaluation, spent a quarter of an hour in the crossfire of questions from the four-member jury after presenting their key theses, Veolia informed on Facebook.

First place went to Mateusz Brzeszcz, M.Sc. from the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering (EEIA) for his thesis entitled "Integration of photovoltaic sources with heating systems using heat pumps and heat storage," under the supervision of Tomasz Siewierski, PhD.

Second place was awarded to Rafal Olejnik, M.Sc., from the EEIA Faculty for his thesis entitled "Power and energy management in a prosumer installation using an energy storage tank," under supervision of Michal Malaczek, PhD.

Third place was won by Bartlomiej Dyniak, BSc from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, for the paper on "Repowering of domestic coal blocks using gas turbines," under the supervision of Janusz Buchta, PhD.

Works on energy, heating, related to new technologies, renewable energy or energy transformation could be submitted to the competition.

Cash prizes for the winners of the competition are: 1st place PLN 5,000, 2nd place PLN 3,000, 3rd place PLN 2,000
