Prof. Jacek Banasiak (discipline: mathematics, Web of Science Core Collection: h-index – 19, number of publications 2013-2021 – 71, number of citations for publications from 2013-2021 – 269. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology and Applied Mathematics at Lodz University of Technology. He was awarded professorship in 2007.

Jacek Banasiak has been a research professor at the TUL Institute of Mathematics (since 2019), head of Mathematical Models and Methods in Biosciences and Bioengineering research department at the Pretoria University, and he co-heads the International Laboratory on Applied Semigroup Research at the South Ural State University in Chelyabinsk.

Prof. Banasiak's main research topics are applications of functional analysis to the study of non-local, integral-differential equations of kinetic theory, mathematical biology and fragmentation and coagulation theory. He also deals with asymptotic analysis of multiscale models.

He is the author or co-author of 5 scientific monographs.

He has been invited to give more than 50 lectures and courses at the national and international conferences.

He has promoted 12 doctoral students.

He was elected to the Academy of Sciences of South Africa in 2006, and to the African Academy of Sciences in 2017.

He has been a visiting professor at Strathclyde University in Scotland since 2010, in 2013 he was awarded the title of the Fellow of the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

In 2012, he received the South African Mathematical Society's Grand Prize for research, in 2013 he was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit, in 2014 he received the Centre for the Application of Mathematics' first prize for the best paper in applied mathematics. In 2021, he received an award from the Minister of Education and Science for significant achievements in research.

He is editor-in-chief of Afrika Matematika (Springer), associate editor of Quaestiones Matematicae (Taylor & Francis) and he is a member of editorial boards of several other journals.
