The European Centre for Economic Development has nominated Dr Jacek Stańdo, Professor at the Mathematics and Physics Teaching Centre, for the Champion of Business award.

Dr Stańdo has been nominated for his significant contribution to the scientific and economic development of the country. At TUL, he is an academic - a mathematician and passionate about implementing out-of-the-box solutions in education that stimulate creativity and enthusiasm for learning. He is the manager and author of several projects funded by the European Union. He also heads a project funded by the Erasmus + programme 'Models for Teaching Three-Dimensional Geometry Using Virtual Reality - Math3DGeoVR'. He is currently working on 'A modern model for an intelligent system for measuring learning outcomes in mathematics at different levels of the European Qualifications Framework'.

Dr Jacek Stańdo has previously been recognised by the European Centre for Economic Development with the Innovation Ambassador award. The mathematician was recognised for his outstanding involvement in numerous projects aimed at developing innovation in Poland, as well as forward-looking, out-of-the-box thinking and novel solutions.

The aim of the Champion of Business award is to honour scientists whose projects have a positive impact on the Polish economy, respect the principles of responsible business and inspire the use of good practices. The winners will be selected by the programme chapter.
