We've just had an important meeting within the framework of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. Balazs Furjes, Director of EIT Health InnoStars, and Joanna Broy, EIT Health InnoStars Ecosystem Lead, visited Lodz University of Technology. The meeting was attended by Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector, and Prof. Łukasz Albrecht, Vice-Rector for Science.

During the visit, topics related to building a common ecosystem for innovation in the health sector were discussed, and the role of EIT Health as a tool for developing networks was emphasized. Our scientists had the opportunity to present activities carried out in their laboratories and ongoing national and international projects.

Our guests had the chance to listen to presentations and participate in laboratory demonstrations at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering, and the Faculty of Chemistry. The VR laboratory in the Design4Al building made a great impression. Each laboratory visit ended with a discussion about international achievements and experiences in building scientific and business contacts around ongoing projects.

Two years ago, in May 2022, Lodz University of Technology joined the international group of partners of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology community in the health (EIT Health) and food (EIT Food) pillars.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology is an independent body of the European Commission within the Horizon Europe program structure, created to strengthen innovation in key areas of European Union development.

EIT Health was established in 2015 as a "knowledge and innovation community" of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). It consists of various sections, each focusing on a different sector or area of innovation – in our case, health and aging. The organization operates on the principle of the "knowledge triangle," according to which experts from business, research, and education collaborate, as this creates an optimal environment for innovation.
