The inauguration of the first edition of the programme Excellence in Engineering: Talents in Research with Opportunities (E2TOP) took place on 10 March. We met seven of the most talented first-year students from various fields of study at TUL.

E2TOP is the new formula for boosting opportunities. The programme is addressed both to talented students and ambitious academic teachers who, in a partnership based on the mentor-student principle, will jointly pursue selected research topics.

The finalists of the first edition were welcomed by Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of TUL, and Professor Andrzej Romanowski, TUL Prof., Vice Rector for Education.

You are courageous. Thank you for applying to our programme. I promise you won't be bored - said Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of TUL. - Our project is not only a chance for additional, fantastic development, but also a way to seek and discover what you may want to do in life. I wish you perseverance and success.

The Vice Rector for Education stressed that at the end of the programme, an international event is planned as part of Research Week at Lodz University of Technology, where students will be able to show off the results of their research. He also added that the programme will end with a competition for the best project. An award sponsored by the TUL rector will be given to both the author and the student's mentor.

It was emphasised many times during the inauguration that the topics proposed by the mentors are extremely ambitious and have great potential, which in the future may result in their wide application in our everyday life.

At the end of his speech, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik wished both mentors and students great cooperation on inspiring projects and long-term scientific friendships.
