On April 6, the first technological debate entitled "Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a challenge for companies not only from the IT sector" took place. It was attended by invited guests from the IT sector and the representatives of Lodz University of Technology.

The first of the series of debates was opened by the Rector of TUL, Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik and the initiator of the undertaking, Professor Łukasz Kaczmarek, the chairman of TUL Senate Committee for Science, Promotion and Foreign Cooperation.

Lodz University of Technology is an institution that works together with industry and wants to act as an originator for industry. TUL wants to be the institution with which good business can be done. This is how we see our role, and the "Technologies of Tomorrow" debates are to show what we can offer, on the one hand, and to give us the opportunity to listen to the opinions coming from industry, on the other hand. Artificial Intelligence is not only about those who create tools, ideas and prospects for development, but also about those who use these tools and apply them in completely new areas, so that we can solve problems that concern us all - better, easier, faster, more accurately, economically and efficiently - said Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of Lodz University of Technology.

During the debate, its participants attempted to define artificial intelligence (AI) and to present the benefits of its application for industries related to, e.g., medicine, broadly understood security, and process digitalization. They also considered the threats posed by AI in areas such as impact on the workplace, human rights, and technological readiness. Moreover, the participants discussed perspectives of further development of AI in the context of the Lodz region in terms of cooperation between universities and business, the professions of the future and the labour market.
