The authorities of Lodz University of Technology cordially invite to a formal meeting of the Senate on June 19 (Wednesday), at which the title of honorary doctorate will be awarded to Professor Jacek Moll, one of the founders of pediatric cardiac surgery in Poland, highly respected among physicians and patients, professor of medical sciences and a mechanical engineer.

Prof. Jacek Moll studied at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Lodz University of Technology, graduating in 1974. He then pursued his education at the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical Academy in Lodz, where he obtained his medical degree in 1981. He defended his doctoral thesis there in 1987 and earned his post-doctoral degree in 1999. He became a professor of medical sciences in 2006.

He gained his scientific experience at the best medical centers in Europe and North America. During his stay in the USA, he obtained two patents for new models of mechanical heart valves. He has had a long-standing collaboration with Lodz University of Technology, including participating in research on coating surfaces with nanocrystalline diamond for medical purposes. This topic became the subject of a work awarded the "Nobel for a Pole," granted by the Committee for Scientific Research.

The sponsor of Prof. Jacek Moll's honorary doctorate is Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of Lodz University of Technology and Head of the Institute of Turbomachinery at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The ceremony will take place in the Alchemium building (114 Żeromskiego Street) in the Tadeusz Paryjczak Auditorium at 11:00 AM and will be broadcast online by the Multimedia Center of Lodz University of Technology.
