Last weekend (1-3.04), the "Sport Bay" Sports and Didactic Centre of Łódź hosted the Polish Academic Swimming Championships, which attracted over 900 competitors from 83 universities in Poland. During the two days of competition, several hundred medals were handed out. The representatives of the Łódź University of Technology gave us a lot of joy, winning as many as 18 medals, including 6 in the Open category.

In the Open category in the individual classification we obtained the following results:

  • Jan Kalusowski won 2 gold medals - in 50 m and 100 m classic style,
  • Marcel Wągrowski won the gold medal in the 100 m backstroke and the bronze medal in the 100 m butterfly,
  • Zuzanna Dzwonnik won the silver medal in 100 m in the alternating style and the bronze medal in 100 m in the butterfly style.

In the Technical Universities category, we won a total of 9 gold medals:

  • Jan Kałusowski - 2 gold medals - 50 m and 100 m classic style,
  • Marcel Wągrowski - 2 gold medals - 100 m backstroke, 100 m butterfly,
  • Zuzanna Dzwonnik - 2 gold medals - 100 m in the alternating style, 100 m in the butterfly style.
  • Julia Wróbel - gold medal - 50 m in the classic style,
  • Wiktoria Nieszporek - gold medal - 100 m in the classic style.

Female 4x50m freestyle relay team consisting of: Julia Wróbel, Aleksandra Bednarek, Zuzanna Dzwonnik, Wiktoria Nieszporek triumphed as gold medalists. Other medals for the Pool were won by: Wiktoria Nieszporek - silver medal - 50 m classic style, Aleksandra Bednarek - bronze medal - 100 m in the classic style Male 4x50 m freestyle relay team composed of: Marcel Wągrowski, Jan Kałusowski, Yehor Vasylenko, Kajetan Lasota.

In the classification of Technical Universities women took 1st place, men came 3rd. In the general Open classification we took 9th place women and 10th men respectively, taking the fourth place in the medal classification in the Open category.
