The 78th opening of the academic year at Lodz University of Technology will be held on Wednesday, October 5 in the auditorium of Prof. T. Paryjczak, Alchemium building, 114 Żeromskiego St.

Traditionally, the ceremony will begin with a speech by the Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, in which he will present an overview of the past year of the university's activity. During the event, the best students will receive distinctions and awards for their academic performance.

Awards will also be given to the winners of the competition organized by the NOT Lodz Federation of Scientific and Technical Associations and the University Council of this organization at TUL, for the best master's thesis written at Lodz University of Technology.

The Association of Sugar Technicians, which has been promoting diploma theses carried out at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences, will present awards for the theses that have made a significant contribution to the field of sugar analytics, technique and technology.

An important part of each opening ceremony is the matriculation of newly admitted students and doctoral students. Another highlight is the inaugural lecture delivered this year by the youngest TUL professor – Prof. Anna Fabjańska of the Institute of Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering, entitled "Computer vision and artificial intelligence, or how computers see and understand the world."
