For a few days, from 23 to 27 November, visitors from 7 countries: Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine and Poland, will come to Lodz University of Technology to participate in the 9th international training conference for doctoral candidates from the Baltic Sea region - BUP 9th PhD Students training "Interdisciplinary-Multicultural-International".

The conference will be held as part of an international agreement: Uppsala University (Sweden) - Lodz University of Technology (Poland). Approximately 40 PhD students and experts will participate. Lectures, Design Thinking workshops, scientific consultation of PhD theses and presentations by PhD students are planned.

The meeting will take place in the state-of-the-art LabFactor building and participants will be welcomed by the Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik. The event is organised by the Baltic University Centre, based at the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering of Lodz University of Technology.

Since 2000, Lodz University of Technology has acted as the Secretary and National Centre of the Baltic University Programme, currently bringing together 30 universities from Poland. The Centre's Director is Prof. Ireneusz Zbicinski. The membership currently includes 89 universities from the Baltic Sea Region that have undertaken cooperation in the fields of education for sustainable development, climate neutrality, and democracy.

The BUP Office at TUL organises and supports the creation of conferences, seminars, courses, summer schools, training cruises for students, doctoral candidates, academic teachers from all scientific disciplines and fields of study from Polish universities. In the last 5 years, about 200 students, PhD students and teachers from Polish universities have actively participated in BUP activities.
