Prof. Małgorzata Matusiak is a graduate of the Faculty of Textile Engineering of Lodz University of Technology. In 2002 she obtained a PhD with distinction in sciences and in 2013 the degree of Doctor of Sciences (habilitation) in the discipline of textile engineering.
She has been working at Lodz University of Technology since 2012. She is a researcher and an academic at the Institute of Architecture of Textiles. Since 2019, she has been the chairperson of the Board of Studies of Textile and Fashion Industry and Textile Design. Previously (1996 - 2007), she was a researcher at the Institute of Architecture of Textiles in Lodz and then at the Institute of Textiles, being vice-chairman of the Scientific Council of this institute from 2008 to 2012.
Prof. Matusiak's research interests are in the field of clothing design and technology, textile material engineering, clothing comfort and geometric surface structure of textile materials. She is the author of 2
monographs and co-editor of monographs, author or co-author of 19 chapters in scientific monographs, 46 scientific articles, 3 national patents, numerous scientific papers and popular science publications. For her inventions presented at international exhibitions she received 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
She is a member of the Executive Committee of International Committee of Cotton Testing Methods at the International Textile Manufacturers Federation based in Zurich. She has been cooperating with foreign institutes and universities for years and is also a European Commission expert.
In 2015, Professor Matusiak was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit for her environmental activities and services to the cotton industry. She is an honorary member of the Chamber of Cotton in Gdynia.
