Professor Dorota Kręgiel is a researcher at the Department of Environmental Biotechnology at TUL. She completed her Master's degree at the Faculty of Food Chemistry (currently Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences). She received her doctoral degree in 2000 and her postdoctoral degree in the discipline of biotechnology in 2013. Her scientific interests are broad and concern microbial physiology and metabolic activity, biologically active compounds, microbiology of drinking water and beverages, biofilms and effective antibiofilm strategies.
Professor Kręgiel has managed grants funded by the State Committee for Scientific Research (KBN), the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) and the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR), and has been a member of international scientific teams within EU projects. She considers the research work in the FP6 project "Perceramics" as a breakthrough time in her scientific development.
Professor Dorota Kręgiel is the author or co-author of over 400 publications, including 80 scientific articles in journals from the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) list and several chapters in books. She has been a reviewer for more than 100 publications, mainly for journals with international reach. She is the supervisor of one completed and four open doctoral dissertations. She has held several foreign scientific internships and an industrial internship in a Polish food company. She has repeatedly participated in the scientific committees of national and international conferences. She has also given invited lectures at international conferences and chaired sessions.
The nominated professor is a deputy representative of Poland in the international association of scientific and educational units and industry ISEKI-Food Association, as well as a member of the EQAS Accreditation Commission at ISEKI-Food Association. For her scientific activities and contribution to the development of Polish-Serbian research cooperation she was awarded an honorary membership of the National Society of Processing and Energy in Agriculture.
Professor Marcin Janicki completed his Master's degree in electronics at Lodz University of Technology, during which he completed a three-month IASTE internship abroad at Unión Fenosa S.A. in Madrid, Spain. In 1992, he also started full-time Master's studies in Finance and Banking at the University of Lodz.
During his stay under a six-month scholarship from the French government at Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Electricité et Mécanique in Nancy, France, he wrote and defended his thesis, obtaining the title of Master of Science in Electronics Engineering. He then undertook doctoral studies at the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering at Lodz University of Technology.
In the academic year 1998/1999 he completed an internship at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. He completed his doctoral studies with honours in 1999 (his thesis was entitled "Thermal modelling of semiconductor structures with special consideration of inverse problem methods for parameter estimation").
Since 1999 he has been employed as an assistant professor in the Department of Microelectronics and Computer Science at Lodz University of Technology.
In the academic year 2000/2001 he was at the Department of Electronics and Information Systems, Ghent University, Belgium, within the NATO Advanced Fellowship programme, at the end of which he was awarded a distinction for his research in 2005.
In the academic year 2007/2008 he held a FWF Austrian Science Fund Fellowship at the Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Linz. In 2012 he defended his postdoctoral thesis entitled. "Inverse heat transfer problems in electronics.
Professor Marcin Janicki's research interests include methods of thermal modelling of electronic systems with particular emphasis on techniques for generating compact thermal models and advanced algorithms for solving inverse problems. He is also interested in fabrication technology and multi-domain modelling of MOEMS structures and VLSI integrated circuits.
He is co-author of 132 publications in this field, including 15 articles in journals from the so-called Philadelphia list.
He was a manager of 2 own grants of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and a contractor in numerous scientific projects financed from national and international funds. He is also a long-standing member of the organising committee of the international conference Mixed Design of Integrated Circuit and Systems and a member of the Microelectronics Section of the Electronics and Telecommunications Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
In 2010 he was awarded the Bronze Medal for Long Service and in 2012 the Medal of the National Education Commission.
