In the first stage of the project we handed over the conference and teaching building. Its representative auditorium named after Professor Tadeusz Paryjczak was the venue of the academic year inauguration," – said the TUL Rector, Professor Krzysztof Jóźwik, after signing the agreement. - Now we intend to complete the substantive part, which will include modern chemical laboratories and workshops for conducting research and teaching at the highest level. I hope that this long-awaited investment project for the Faculty of Chemistry, which is a strong scientific centre, will influence its further development. The new infrastructure will make it possible to carry out research that meets the challenges of the future, in case of many of which chemistry plays a key role.
The second stage of the project will involve the construction of three laboratory and didactic buildings with a floor area of 1,455.30 square metres, which will house modern chemical and scientific laboratories. The project will be financed with a special-purpose subsidy of the Ministry of Education and Science in the amount of PLN 65.1 million and own funds of Lodz University of Technology. However, before the construction begins, parts of the building of the Department of Vehicles and Fundamentals of Machine Design at TUL must be demolished.
The completion of the entire Alchemium is planned for the second quarter of 2024. As Professor Małgorzata Szynkowska - Jóźwik, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, said - "The new space housing about 130 laboratories will give us a chance to develop modern methods of education and use new technologies. It also means better perspectives for the development of research and the possibility of ensuring a high level of teaching.
Director of the Lodz branch of Alstal Construction Group - Łukasz Jabłoński that won the tender for the construction works at the second stage of Alchemium, has promised that the company will make every effort to ensure that the building will serve the future generations.
